A Sad Day
Unfortunately, those who work against the Rodent Liberation Front (RLF) have been successful in taking this wonderful holiday and twisting into some sort of silly weather prediction fable. Spiritual symbols and topics have been reduced to marketing ploys by backwards cities like Punxsutawney, Penn - and sell outs like Phil have traded the hardship of freeing the oppressed for the life of fame and fortune. See: http://www.groundhog.org/
The facts are that the Great Gopher - the sage that inspired the Rodent Liberation Front - was actually a seer and a prophet of astounding importance. Those who believe his speeches and writings were about the weather have missed the importance of this great rodent altogether.
The prediction (or not) of 'six more weeks of winter' is actually a statement about the conditions under which rodents are forced to live. Upon seeing his shadow (or nemesis) the sage would predict additional hardship - whereas if we stay clear of oppression the 'spring thaw' comes early. Whatever the case, the rodent is to fight onward because the victory represented by spring does eventually come!
This day is holy among rodent kind - a time for spiritual assessment and a time to reflect on the best way to advance the cause of rodents everywhere. One should pause, and take a moment to see if there are any spiritual shadows that will bring 6 more weeks of enslavement - or if one is free to finally move on to the blooming season for all rodents everywhere.
Don't let sell outs like Phil fool you.
Take up arms and fight on - the battle must be fought and fight it we will.

| I'm in Wisconsin. Six more weeks of winter IS an early spring here, whether you're speaking metaphorically or not. |

Its been 65 to 75 degrees here for the last month. Today it was 75 degrees and sunny. I honestly don't know if I can take six more weeks of this. _________________ AKA Ghostly |

Bah. That's WAY too warm for comfort. Give me a 50 degree day any day. (That's 10 C for those of you from countries that use a REASONABLE system of weights and measures.) |
