Ranks are also susceptible to bribery. XD
I belIeve the quote is from "Illusions" by Richard Bach. Of course, since you seemed to have already bribed the rat, I doubt you will get it back.

Correct! It's from the fictional text "The Messiah's Handbook" referenced in Bach's book "Illusions". I actually PM'd the info to Billiam before he changed my forum rank, so I'm looking on that change as an act of beneficence.
I htought they "found" the messiahs handbook, and published it a few years ago?

I think Bach did release another book by that name. Initially, though, it's said to be in a book that was fictional at the time.
Interesting. You didn't answer the second part of the question, though -- what's the inspiration for using it as a signature?
And what's with this Billiam stuff?

Oh. Inspiration. Friend of mine and I were discussing why he was recently turned down for a job he interviewed for. Something about his ability to form connections and relationships with end-users. He made the comment about himself that he was too alien, and that he "was abstracting self too much." Somewhere in the course of this conversation (it took place over several hours, by email), I picked up my copy of Illusions, opened it up, and found that quote staring at me. I sent it to him, because it seemed relevant to the issue.
Why'd I use it here? Hell, who knows? I sure don't.
Why Billiam? It's just a combination of Bill and William. The two both get brought up in my so-called "mind" when I see your forum name, "WildBill". It has both the "W" and the "B". And I tend to have private names for a lot of people I know. One friend, named Becky, also goes by Seraphina. I occasionally refer to her (internally) as "Beckiphena".

Interesting. Was just curious, it's hardly the oddest nickname I've acquired.

Me too. Some asshole went and called me "LaughingRat" at some point, and I haven't been able to shake that name since.

Actually, most of my nicknames are quite tame -- just remarkably odd. The one that got me the most odd looks was "Daddy", from a girl about a year younger than I was.
