Update: Now we have a cute little hamster. Its a dwarf variety. Its called A winter white( siberian hamster I believe), and contrary to popular belief she is friendly, doesn't bite, and is cute as can be. Wife named her pickles. But it does seem hamsters are best kept alone, they would fight otherwise. She is pudgy and doesn't seem to like the exercise wheel, so we got her one of the little ball things you can put them in. Now she's mobile and all over the house. Great invention those balls.
